Everything on Pawsured is available in machine-readable form, free and without a key. Numbers from the estimate endpoints are illustrations anchored on NAPHIA's industry averages, never quotes. If you use the content, cite the guide URL; every guide carries its own sources and date.

Search the guides
GET /api/search?q=trupanion+waiting+period&limit=5Returns ranked results with title, URL, category, summary and the guide's quick answer. Optional category: Coverage, How it works, Costs, By breed, By state, By insurer, Tools.
Estimate a premium
GET /api/cost-estimate?species=dog&age=3&breed=Labrador%20Retriever&deductible=250&reimbursement=80&annual_limit=10000&area=average
Returns a low, mid and high monthly figure. The model multiplies NAPHIA's 2025 US average (about $70 a month for
dogs, $36 for cats) by factors for age, breed risk, deductible, reimbursement rate, annual limit and local vet
costs, the same model as the on-site calculator. POST with a JSON
body works too. Unknown breeds fall back to breed_risk (low, medium, high, very_high) or medium.
Calculate a reimbursement
GET /api/reimbursement?bill=6000&deductible=500&rate=80&deductible_met=false&annual_limit=10000Deductible first, then the percentage, then the cap. Some insurers (Figo, Lemonade) apply the percentage first; the reimbursement guide explains the difference.
